The University management has established test centres for students in response to the more stringent provisions outlined in the new coronavirus rules. In addition, we are conducting more checks of students’ 3G proof, which is required to attend classes.

There are now two test centres available specifically for Leipzig University students. On the Augustusplatz campus, the test centre at the bistro in the Mensa am Park opened on Thursday and will be open daily from 8am to 12 noon until 21 December 2021.

Students also have the option of getting tested at the cafeteria am Elsterbecken on the Jahnallee campus. This test centre will be open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8 to 10am.

Another test centre will open on 24 November for science students. In the former library at Johannisallee 29, you can get tested from Monday to Friday from 8am until 11am.

The Studentenwerk Leipzig has allowed the University to use these facilities for the test centres free of charge. The tests will be carried out by staff from the Leipzig agency Velvet.

You can always find up-to-date information about the test centres on our coronavirus website: www.uni-leipzig.de/en/testing.

To ensure that the winter semester can be carried out safely according to the 3G rules, we are also conducting more random checks of students’ 3G proof prior to the start of lectures and classes. Staff from the agency Velvet are also conducting these checks. The increased checks started at our campus in the city centre on Thursday. They will start at the Jahnallee campus on Friday and the natural sciences (medical campus) on Monday. The random checks will take place in a rotating manner at the entrances to University buildings and rooms used for teaching purposes. The Velvet agency staff are authorised to check your 3G proof and identity documents, ask students without such documents to go to a test centre and not allow them to enter the University premises.
